The Masdar Institute of Science and Technology is the world’s first graduate-level university dedicated to providing real-world solutions to issues of clean energy and sustainability.
Developed in Abu Dhabi with the support of MIT), the Masdar Institute provides world-class graduate research and education that attracts leaders and critical thinkers in science and technology with a particular focus on advanced energy and sustainable technology.
Masdar Institute has four core research centers (iCenters) that serve to drive the development of new technologies and human capital in key sectors – water, environment, smart and sustainable systems, microsystems, and energy. A fifth iCenter – iInnovation – works across all Masdar Institute research centers to ensure that the promising ideas they produce are given the best opportunity for commercialization.
About MIT-Masdar Institute Cooperative Program:
The MIT and MI engagement began in December 2006 with MIT's Technology and Development Program. Since then:
- More than 123 MIT faculty and 105 research scientists or postdocs from 25 different centers, labs, and departments at MIT have participated.
- More than 291 MIT graduate students from 22 different departments, labs, and centers have had funded interactions with MI faculty, students, and staff.
- More than 25 conferences and workshops abroad have been attended by MIT students under this program.
