2. CONCEPTUAL MODEL - NIST

Transforming the NIST “conceptual” model (available in NISTIR 7628: Guidelines for Smart Grid Cybersecurity) into a structured model as an entry point for DSM analysis,  the critical data are extracted from the tables in order to represent the elements of the conceptual model defined by NIST.

We view the conceptual model as a synthesis of empirical evidence and examine its properties accordingly. The full DSM matrix is shown in Table below at a high level of abstraction. Traditional exploratory tools allow us to examine parts and pieces of the DSM. This capability enables us to “dig in deeper” or to focus in some segment thereof.
